Paris

Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin failed to advance to the last 16 of the French Open 2021. Competing against Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han (Taiwan), the young Indonesian duo lost in straight sets 22-24, 17-21.

Playing on court 4 Stade Pierre de Coubertin, Paris, Wednesday (27/10/2021) night WIB, Leo/Daniel faced stiff resistance from Lu/Yang from the start, as evidenced by the scores achieved, starting from 2-2, 4-4 , up to 6-6.

After that, Leo/Daniel were able to maintain the lead and closed the interval with a score of 11-9, but Lu/Yang’s points were still trailing. The fighting spirit shown by the Taiwanese double proved to be able to trouble Leo/Daniel.

Leo/Daniel, who had a 17-13 lead, were then chased by Lu/Yang and managed to equalize with a score of 20-20. During the deuce phase, Lu/Yang took the lead and managed to close the first set with a score of 24-22.

In the second set, Lu/Yang immediately stepped on the gas and earned points and left Leo/Daniel with a score of 7-1, and closed the interval with a score of 11-4. But after the interval, Leo / Daniel tried to get up.

The Indonesian men’s doubles managed to cut the distance to 8-12, but Lu/Yang pulled away again with a score of 14-9. Leo/Daniel were not discouraged and continued to chase until 12-16.

However, Lu/Yang, who are ranked 23rd in the world, were able to add three consecutive points to 12-19. Although Leo/Daniel had chased up to 17-20, in the end it was Lu/Yang who managed to win in the second set with a score of 21-17.

Thus, Leo/Daniel failed to follow in the footsteps of their seniors in the men’s doubles, Fajar Alfian/M Rian Ardianto and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo who had advanced to the last 16. After this, there will still be Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan who will compete against Keiichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi (Japan) in court 1.
