Gonzalo de Domingo elevates the CSB to the top of the standings

The Club Soria Baloncesto Transler is describing an exceptional start to the season and is the new leader of the Men’s First Division, after the victory achieved on the second day, at the San Andrés Sports Center, 83-56 against the El Lagar Baloncesto Venta Restaurant of Baños de Palencia. Gonzalo de Domingo scored 16 points in a duel in which, finally, Fernando Flores was able to count on Carlos Romano and Javier Zulaica and in which the still junior Guillermo Yáñez made his debut. Never before had the Club Soria Baloncesto Transler been able to string together two victories in the first two days. And he had never been the leader of the classification, either.

The 24-11 that reflected the score at the end of the first quarter already evidenced the difference that exists today between Transler and the affiliate of the Basketball Venta de Baños Veymak of the EBA League. Soriano Alonso Alvira, author of 7 points in the first quarter, was accompanied in the starting five by Alejandro Hernández, Eneko Cueto, Gonzalo de Domingo and Martín de la Rosa. The latter converted in the second quarter one of Transler’s four triples (the other three were signed by three players who started the duel on the bench: Carlos Romano, Javier Zulaica and Miguel Erdozain.

The Transler signed a poor 22% of success in triple shots (5 of 22) in the clash of the first day in Aldeamayor (Valladolid). Everything changed in front of the Restaurante El Lagar Baloncesto Venta de Baños de Palencia: those 4 hits from the 6.75 line join the two from the first quarter and the five converted in the second period (11 out of 33 or, what is the himself, 35% effective and with three of them in Carlos Romano’s private locker). The break would be reached with an unappealable 46-21 and with 10 minutes left for the end of the crash, the electronic reflected a resounding 65-34.

Gonzalo de Domingo exhibited a brilliant start to the last quarter: he chained 8 consecutive points, thanks to a basket of 2, a triple and three free throws. By then, the few options that the Restaurante El Lagar Baloncesto Venta de Baños had to put Transler in trouble had disappeared, which reached a maximum advantage of 83-43. The final stretch of the clash served for the still junior Guillermo Yáñez, already called up on the first day, to make his debut in the First Division. The Soriano remained on the court for 5 minutes, during which time he committed a personal foul.

Sergio Redondo, Eizan Fernández and Sergio García also participated in the victory of Club Soria Baloncesto Transler, which is one of the three teams in the Men’s First Division that counts its matches by triumphs. The same balance between victories and defeats is held by Seguros Bilbao Taller Central Diesel and Grupo Inmapa Filipenses, so it is the basket-average that places the team led by Fernando Flores at the head of the First Division classification, ahead of Zamoranos and Palencia. Seguros Bilbao and Grupo Inmapa will face each other on the third day, which will lead to variations in the top positions of the qualifying table.
