Servette still has not found the keys. Despite a slight improvement and a different approach in the game, the Garnet chained a fourth defeat in the league (not counting the Cup last Wednesday) by losing 2-1 in Lugano on Sunday. It is becoming more and more complicated for the formation of Alain Geiger to refute the crisis.

Because in terms of results, Servette hits rock bottom. This is now the seventh consecutive game (all competitions) that the Genevans were unable to win. Even if, in Ticino, Geiger chose to adapt his approach: more careful, lower on the ground, but above all more direct to the recovery. Either sacrifice a little sterile possession to enhance the less frequent moments with the ball. TO Lugano, the Garnet made it a weapon which did not make them more realistic in the length.

An ideal start

And yet it had started well. At quarter hour, for the first real offensive of the Genevans, Gaël Clichy intercepted the ball at mid-field and launched the transition. First for Kastriot Imeri, who sent Grejohn Kyei to the goal. But the Frenchman’s attempt was rejected by the Luganese porter, Amir Saipi. Regardless, Imeri had called and could open the scoring. So far, the recipe has worked. It was much less subsequently.

Both offensively and defensively. Lugano was overall the most proactive team at Cornaredo (where the word was spread to vote yes to the multi-sport complex which must finally offer a stadium worthy of the name to the Ticino city). Lungoyi had tried in the second minute, a little before Douline and Frick teamed up to give Sabbatini almost a goal on a poorly negotiated exit.

Strong goalkeepers

Before finding the flaw, on a penalty from Zan Celar (30th), following a hand fault from Yoan Séverin to counter a powerful shot from Mattia Bottani. This does not mean that Servette was not dangerous, in a project that suited her well. Kyei, for example, touched the post after returning from the locker room. In the process, the Servettian striker cleared a ball two meters in front of his own goals. But both Saipi and Frick also responded. The Lugan goalkeeper on an occasion from Schalk, while the Genevan interposed twice on tests from the Algerian Amoura (64th, 67th).

It might have looked like a logical draw, in content. But following a completely missed raise from Vincent Sasso, Lugano was able to snatch victory in the 78th minute. The return of the Garnet was neglected and Lavanchy centered perfectly back for captain Jonathan Sabbatini. Servette really lost the recipe.
