This saying from Cologne trainer Steffen Baumgart (49) is not only cult, but now also “football saying of the year”. This was announced by the Academy for Football Culture in Nuremberg.
Reason for saying: the low mileage of his protégé Anthony Modeste (33). Baumgart shouldn’t complain about the award, however: the “Football Slogan of the Year”, which has been awarded since 2006, is endowed with 5,000 euros for a charitable cause.
In the online voting, 70 percent of the football fans voted, the remaining 30 percent were decided by a jury including presenter Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (56) or the singer Thees Uhlmann (47).
