In the run-up to a sports activity, guards of the complex received signals that a so-called dropping was about to take place. The sports outside therefore did not go on. After a while, jailers saw a ball fly over the walls, the director of the prison told the regional broadcaster.
“My staff was told through the media that a football would be kicked over the wall on Monday with stuff intended for a prisoner,” said director Obe Veldman. “It was a football and when we cut it open, it turned out to contain large chunks of hashish, SIM cards, a telephone, presumably ecstasy pills and a charger,” says Veldman.
It is not clear who the football was intended for.
