Heisei Kokusai University Women’s Baseball Club players who report the runner-up of the national tournament and take a commemorative photo at Kazo City Hall

The Heisei Kokusai University Women’s Baseball Club in Kazo City, which won second place in the National University Championships for Women’s Baseball, visited the city hall and reported to Mayor Ryoichi Ohashi.

The tournament will be held in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture from September 8th to 12th, with 8 universities participating. We competed with the qualifying league in the final tournament. Heisei Kokusai University was unfortunately defeated by Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences (Osaka) 3-4 in the final, but the advancement to the final of the national tournament was a feat since winning the 2018 Kochi tournament.

Five players, including coach Mitsuharu Hamamoto and Rina Kanaman (22), who led the team as captain, visited the city hall on September 30th. “It was my last chance to regain Japan’s best, so I was disappointed, but I could feel the growth of ourselves, such as teamwork,” said Kanemitsu.

The city is focusing on popularizing and supporting women’s baseball. Mayor Ohashi praised the runner-up and sent an ale saying, “I will continue to support you. I want you to do your best.” (Yasuhiro Teramoto)
