Filip and Mathilde had invited all Belgian Olympians, including the Paralympic athletes. Some toppers were missing such as medal winners Nafi Thiam (gold in the heptathlon), cyclist Wout van Aert (silver in the road race) and judoka Matthias Casse (bronze in the class up to 81 kg).
King Filip and Queen Mathilde had their picture taken with the Olympic medalists who were present and had a chat with all the athletes. One of them was marathon runner Bashir Abdi, who won bronze in Tokyo and was the first to cross the finish line in Rotterdam last weekend.
