Emma Raducanu talks about her new role as Dior ambassador

The meteoric rise of Emma Raducanu Even becoming one of the biggest stars in world tennis seems to have happened overnight. First was his thrilling rise to the fourth round at Wimbledon this summer, having entered the tournament as wild card. Then of course his impressive performance at the US Open in September, where he took home the top trophy in a record-breaking victory. Finally, after these impressive victories, the fashion world was quick to call her: Raducanu became an ambassador for Tiffany & Co. and appeared at the Met Gala and the premiere of the latest Bond film in London, No Time to Die.

Today, however, 18-year-old British athlete takes his boldest step in the world of fashion, with the announcement that she will be the new ambassador for the Dior house, both for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s womenswear collections and for the brand’s skincare and makeup offering, supervised by Peter Philips. As it was expected, it all started with the dress that Raducanu chose for the Bond premiere: A Greek-inspired empire-line dress in sparkling silver from the brand’s 2022 resort collection: “I felt like I was in heaven!” Says Raducanu when talking about the first time she put on the dress: “Being able to wear a dress like that, made with all the magic of the Dior workshops, was a totally unique experience. The detail of the embroidery was exceptional and I was very honored to attend my first film premiere with him.”

In addition to the opulence and craftsmanship behind Dior’s designs, it is also the house’s fiercely feminist bent under current creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri that convinced Raducanu when she entered talks to become an ambassador. “Maria Grazia’s work allows women to feel confident in the iconic Dior cut, which I find very unique,” she continues, “the sincerity of her approach and the way she turns the shows into collective events and significant influences undoubtedly in my choice “.

Given his experience in Grand Slam tournaments, Emma Raducanu certainly knows a thing or two about collective and significant events. But with today’s news, it looks like his off-court appearances – now head-to-toe Dior, of course – will be just as exciting.
