ABU DHABI, October 27, 2021 (WAM) – The President of the United Arab Emirates Wrestling, Judo and Kickboxing Federation, Mohamed bin Thaaloob Al Derai, stressed that the United Arab Emirates is ready to host and organize the 50th Abu Dhabi Grand Slam from November 26 to 28, 2021, notably with the confirmation of the participation of 17 countries in the event.
During a phone call, Al Derai informed the President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), Marius Vizer, of the efforts of the organizing committee of the championship to prepare for the event, which will be held at Sheikh Zayed Sports City. .
Mr Vizer congratulated the UAE on the success of its measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure a gradual return to normalcy. He praised the efforts made by the government and the competent authorities, as well as the awareness of the UAE public, hailed by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Al Derai told Vizer that the championship, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, vice chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, is sure to be a success, especially in light of the supervision of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the IJF, in addition to the expertise accumulated by the UAE executives of the federation and support committees in the organization of the previous ten editions of the championship.
The 17 countries that have confirmed their participation so far are Denmark, China, Taiwan, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Kyrgyzstan, Serbia, Israel, Poland, Slovenia, United Kingdom, refugee team from IJF, Sweden, France, Ireland, Canada, Romania and Tajikistan.
