Eintracht mourns the loss of one of their greatest stars. Bernd Nickel, UEFA Cup winner (1980) and cup winner (1974, 75 and 81), died after a long illness at the age of 72.

Nickel scored 141 times in 426 Bundesliga games. Only world champion Bernd Hölzenbein (75/160 hits) was more successful at Eintracht.
