The 2021 edition of the U15 African Badminton Championships had its epilogue, Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Gymnasium of the Regional Institute of Public Health (IRSP) in Ouidah. After four days of competition, the champions were known in singles, doubles (boys and girls) and mixed with the supremacy of Egypt.

It is therefore over for the 2021 edition of the African U15 badminton championships. In boys’ singles, the young Seif Omar won the final by 2 sets to 0 (21-17; 21-15) winning the gold medal against the Ghanaian Shang Francis, who will be satisfied with his medal of vice-champion of Africa . Among the girls, it is the Egyptian Reen Hussein who climbs on the podium in front of the Mauritian Tiya Bhurtun. A fiercely contested meeting by the two challengers but which turned to the advantage of the Egyptian (2 sets to 0: 21-25; 21-09) after 22 minutes of play. In boys’ doubles, the Egyptians Seif Omar and Ziad Heshan took the upper hand in front of Mauritians Bhaugeerotee Distant and Tejas Savoo at the end of a final meeting which lasted 23 minutes. The gold medal went to the Egyptians who won by 2 sets to 0 (21-14; 21-16). In girls’ doubles, it is a match between two teams from Egypt which turned to the advantage of the pair Alya Amre and Reen Hussein in 2 sets to 1 (24-22; 19-21; 21-12). In mixed, the final was also 100% Egyptian as for the women, opposing the pair Seif Omar and Reen Hussein to their counterpart of Ziad Heshan and Alya Amre. At the end, it is the pair Ziad Heshan and Alya Amre who in 34 minutes finished champion by beating by 2 sets to 1 their compatriots (21-18; 21-11; 21-19). Unsurprisingly, Egypt won gold and won the five finals contested. She was huge during the competition showing her supremacy at all levels. As for Benin, it was the big absent at the level of the various podiums. Work must therefore continue to raise the level of Beninese badminton.
