EA Sports is considering changing the name of the FIFA game!

What if FIFA was no longer called FIFA? We are not talking about the world body that governs football, but the football simulation game for consoles and computers published by EA Sports. It is a hypothesis that could seem far-fetched as this name is anchored in popular culture and yet, it is indeed a track explored by the American firm. That’s what EA SPORTS Group Managing Director Cam Weber suggested.

“Looking ahead, we are exploring the idea of renaming our EA Sports Global Football games. This means that we are currently reviewing our agreement with FIFA relating to the rights to use the name. The latter is separate from all our other partnerships and license agreements signed across the football world ”, he explained in a press release published to congratulate himself in particular on the successful launch of FIFA 22. Through this declaration, we can understand that this is a matter of big money, in terms of the use from the famous acronym, which started in 1993 (FIFA International Soccer, before simply becoming FIFA from 1995).
