The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officially becomes the host Formula E 2022. The decision was made through the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris, Friday (15/10).
The forum also ratified the race calendar for the upcoming season 8 2021/2022.
The Chief Championship Officer and Co-founder of Formula E, Alberto Longo, expressed his high appreciation for Indonesia’s participation. Longo also emphasized the importance of the Jakarta E-Prix for Indonesia and ABB Formula E.
Furthermore, Longo appreciated President Jokowi’s efforts to reduce Indonesia’s dependence on conventional energy and switch to environmentally friendly energy, a philosophy that is in line with FEO’s view.
“Especially in realizing this philosophy and to take advantage of the global electric car trend, President Joko Widodo plans to make Indonesia a center for the production of electric cars and car batteries,” said Longo.
President Director of Jakpro, Widi Amanasto said the race track event in this city aims to promote Indonesia and Jakarta to the international community.
“We want the world community to witness Indonesia’s progress, so that they will not hesitate to visit Indonesia. Both as tourists and investors,” said Widi in a written statement, Saturday (16/10).
He said that next year there will be a number of international events to be held in Indonesia. Therefore, there will be a great opportunity to promote Indonesia.
The Formula E event in Jakarta will be held in a series of events for several months until June 2022. This was done to maximize the economic benefits of the event.
“We hope that this race will bring benefits to many parties,” said the chairman of the OC Jakarta E-Prix, Gunung Kartiko.
Kartiko confirmed that the Formula E event would not be held at Monas. However, the provincial government has prepared five other locations as alternative venues to replace this option.
