Dishwasher hacks: these surprising things are allowed in the dishwasher

The dishwasher is an ingenious invention and saves us a lot of time. It goes without saying that plates, forks and pots can be put in the dishwasher. In addition, you can wash many other everyday objects in the dishwasher, which would otherwise be extremely tedious to clean.

What can I put in the dishwasher?

Plastic hairbrushes: All sorts of unsightly residues collect in hairbrushes and combs Hairspray, Haargel or dry shampoo. If you wash the beauty accessories in the dishwasher, they will be clean again very quickly. Warning: wooden brushes are not suitable for the dishwasher.

Children’s & Pet Toys – Plastic Toys: Children’s toys automatically come into contact with a lot of dirt, dust and germs. It doesn’t hurt to clean the toy regularly. The dishwasher is also a practical aid here. Branded toys are made of high-quality plastics and can easily withstand the temperatures in the dishwasher. It is best to choose the glass program and use only a little washing-up liquid. Pack small parts in a laundry bag so that they are not washed down the drain.

Baseball-Caps: It would be logical to put the dirty baseball cap in the washing machine. There it runs the risk of deforming. The practical alternative: wash the baseball cape in the dishwasher, preferably in the top compartment. To do this, select a program with a low temperature and do not wash dirty dishes at the same time. So that the dishwasher does not run empty and you waste energy, you can pack other everyday objects such as toys etc. with it.

Cosmetic and painting brushes: Dirt and bacteria easily settle in cosmetic brushes. You should therefore clean the brushes for make-up, powder or eye shadow regularly – for example in the cutlery basket of the dishwasher. You can also clean paint brushes here, but only if you have painted with water-soluble paints.

Flip-Flops: You can safely wash flip-flops in the top compartment of the dishwasher. For reasons of hygiene, you should not wash dishes during this wash cycle.

Organizer aller Art: Regardless of whether it is a soap dish, a toothbrush cup, a mini-sized trash can, the shelves from the refrigerator or the drawer organizer: Dirt collects everywhere and sticks to the corners over time. Put it in the dishwasher and the parts will be like new again!

Reusable plastic or zip bags: Even in the practical, reusable freezer or zip bags, dirt collects over time. That doesn’t mean you have to throw away the bags. Simply turn the dirty bag inside out and place it over the inserts in the dishwasher so that it is rinsed from the inside. Let it dry well afterwards.
