Diogo Jota explains how ‘Football Manager’ helps him shine on Klopp’s team

Forward Diogo Jota, from Liverpool, is a declared fan of gameFootball Manager”, computer game in which you play the role of coach of a real football team. The Portuguese has played the title since 2008 and believes the experience helps him professionally.

Liverpool takes the field this Sunday (3) in a derby against Manchester City for the Premier League with broadcast live by ESPN on Star+. Click here to know more.

In an interview with reporter Natalie Gedra, from Disney Channels, Diogo Jota believes that the FM allows him to understand more about football tactics and be able to apply it on the field.

“It can be a little suspicious obviously, but I genuinely believe so in terms of understanding what the game is, what changes we can make… I think that’s important,” said the Liverpool striker.

“It exists on FM and FIFA as well. When we see that something is not working and we manage to change it, in tactical terms, it ends up being important when reading the game in real life.”

FM fan, Jota said that his last ‘job’ in the game was at Paços de Ferreira, the club where he professionalized in 2015, at the age of 19. He also spoke about the dispute with his brother André Silva, midfielder of Gondomar, from Portugal.

“In the last save that I made with my brother last year, he, as he played for Boavista, was Boavista and I was Paços de Ferreira. We competed against each other to see who could get better classified.”

In real life, Diogo Jota is in his second season at Liverpool and is the immediate reserve of the attacking trio formed by Mané, Salah and Firmino, starting several matches, threatening the Brazilian’s title.

In 38 games for Jürgen Klopp’s team, the Portuguese national team striker scored 16 goals in all competitions.
