Van den Bergh (PDC-5) had previously won his semi-final with 11-8 against the Pole Krzystof Ratajski (PDC-13). The game was evenly matched until 8-8. Van den Bergh then shifted up a gear and put an end to it with, among other things, a 121 goalkeeper. Van den Bergh finished with an average of 96.00 against 92.56 for Ratajski and was also better in ejection: 30.6 percent against 24.2 percent.

In the final (best of 21), Van den Bergh will face Welshman Jonny Clayton (PDC-8), who beat the Dutchman Michael van Gerwen (PDC-3) 11-6.

Quarterfinals against Huybrechts

Even earlier in the day, Van den Bergh had eliminated his fellow Antwerp resident Kim Huybrechts in the quarterfinals. The Belgian darts players dueled at a high level. Van den Bergh achieved an average of 100.30 points per three darts and Huybrechts did slightly better with 100.63. Huybrechts was also more accurate when throwing out: 57.1 percent against 41.7 percent. In addition, “The Hurricane” had three throws over a hundred (116, 100 and 107). Van den Bergh, however, created many more chances for a goalkeeper-throw: 24 against 14 and so cashed in on ten of them.

“The Dreammaker” made the difference in the initial phase. He ran out to 4-0. Huybrechts fought back to 6-5 and came alongside twice: 7-7 and 8-8, after which he had to bow his head.
