Through its President, Yamil Bukele, INDES presented yesterday the projects for the Improvement of the El Polvorín Sports Complex and the Remodeling and Equipment of the Ciudad Merliot Sports Complex, sportingly known as “El Polideportivo”, in La Libertad. Before giving the details about the interventions in the aforementioned scenarios, Bukele said “it fills us with great emotion to see athletes who now want to return to sport, since that means that we are doing things well”, while reflecting: ” It is not our style to give a cat’s hand to the emblematic stages of our country, that’s why we take time to present these projects ”. The top state sports minister also mentioned that INDES is already working to launch PRODEPORTE II, which would include 17 more venues in the interior of the country.

In the Ciudad Merliot Sports Complex, which will be invested approximately $ 10 million dollars, the third phase of intervention will be launched in the Hotel Polideportivo, which includes, among other things, lined with columns in the dining area, repair of the elevator, change of wooden doors, installation of automatic door at the main entrance. Administrative offices for the badminton, cycling, skating and swimming federations will also be built and upgraded; the parking area will be expanded, led lighting will be placed in common and competition areas; and green areas will be improved. In El Polvorín, meanwhile, and whose investment will be around $ 14 million, the Olympic, diving and heating pools will be remodeled; the badminton gym will be improved, the velodrome and the skating rink will be remodeled; Complementary works will be built to modernize the sports facility, and the facilities will be adapted for access and use by people with disabilities.

With yesterday’s presentation, the number of scenarios to be intervened by INDES rises to six. The previous ones were the Jorge “El Mágico” González Stadium; the “Pablo Arnoldo Guzmán” Softball Court; the “Saturnino Bengoa” Ball Park and the Flor Blanca Sports Complex. Works that will be possible thanks to financing granted by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) for up to 115.2 million dollars for FODEPORTE
