Arrowing eight gold, eight silver and four bronze medals, the Salvadoran team took the top honors of the 2021 Central American Open Junior Archery Championship, which closed last Saturday at the Ciudad Merliot polygon. In second place Colombia with 3-2-3 and in third place, Costa Rica with two gold and two silver. The other participating countries were: Ecuador, Puerto Rico and the Netherlands (Holland).

Among the golden won for the Salvadoran cause were: Wilbert Mejía and Gerardo Rivas, in Arco Composite. Rivas achieved a new Central American record with 149 points. The pair of Paola Corado and Gerardo Rivas in a mixed team compound bow. In the female compound bow modality, the pair of Paola Corado and Camila Funes also added a gold pair. Similarly, Corado, the youth archer of compound bow (50 meters) and classified for the Pan American Games in Cali-Valle 2021, shot gold by accumulating 694 points, after twelve rounds, achieving a new regional record, which was held by the Guatemalan Sofía Paiz (667) in 2017.
