Almost two weeks ago there was the bitter Cup in Bayreuth for the Hamburg Towers – the Wilhemsburgers could now reciprocate in front of a home crowd. In the Inselpark, 2,235 loud spectators saw the Towers’ 77:70 (40:35) success. It was Hamburg’s first home win in front of fans since promotion. Above all, the towers could rely on the red-hot Robin Christians.
At first, however, Justus Hollatz was the defining figure among the hosts. The Towers jewel was directly involved in almost all basket successes. The result: a comfortable 23:12 after the first quarter.
In the course of the game, however, the hosts acted much more uninspired. Bayreuth came up slowly but surely, but the formally strong Christian kept the Wilhemsburger in front with a triple fireworks display in the third quarter (six out of ten attempts were made).

The guests did not give up. In the fourth quarter a real thriller developed – with a better ending for the Towers! Top scorer Christen (22 points) closed the sack at the end of the free-throw line and after the BBL false start, ensured the second victory in a row. The guarantee of victory thanked the fans for their energy and his teammates for the many open throws: “I had a lot of fun today.”
Towers vor EuroCup-Premiere
At the same time, the Towers fans were finally presented with a home win again. This was particularly important to coach Pedro Calles: “After last season, I was looking forward to giving something back to the fans.” The next gift can follow on Tuesday evening. Then Partizan Belgrade will be visiting Inselpark for the EuroCup premiere.
