Clermont surprises Lille people who are still so irregular

Clermont-Lille (1-0)
Buts : V. N’Simba (32e)

End of series for LOSC. After three consecutive wins in the league, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men have finally cracked. At the end of a relatively poor meeting, Lille lost this Saturday on the lawn of Clermont on behalf of the 10th day of Ligue 1 (1-0). In a boiling Gabriel-Montpied stadium, the Clermontois brought down the reigning French champion, them who remained on a series of six games without victories. Pascal Gastien’s men were generally used to a better show, but whatever the essential was elsewhere. If this time they were less flamboyant, the realism that they have so often lacked was on their side today.

Podium goal missed for LOSC
The only goal of the meeting came from Vital N’Simba, the left side of Clermont. It lit up a very dull first period, with a nice dry strike at the entrance to the surface (32nd). Despite a slight improvement in Lille in the second half, not much to eat except a few opportunities wasted by the clumsiness of the LOSC offensive players. The Mastiffs never managed to catch up and therefore bow logically. A victory would have placed them provisionally on the podium, this poor performance makes them stagnate in 8th place, pending the reception of Seville on Wednesday in the Champions League. For their part, the Clermontois go back to 11th position in the standings.
