Halfway through the group stage, UEFA.com is looking at some defenders who could prove appealing to their #UCLfantasy team on matchday four.

Choose your Fantasy Team

Ajax made a notable display in Match 3 by thrashing Dortmund in Amsterdam. All defenders of Erik ten Hag’s team shone, but there was one player who stood out more from the perspective of #UCLfantasy: Daley Blind (€5.2 million). The 31-year-old made an assist, a goal from outside the area, nine ball recovers and the Best of Field award to add to the bonus for his team not conceding a goal. He scored 22 points in Fantasy, more than any other footballer.

Another defense that got talking was Sebastián Coates (€5.0 million). The Sporting centre-back scored twice in the 4-1 victory over Beşiktaş and, although his team failed to keep the goal intact, four rebounds and the Best of Field award resulted in 18 points and the inclusion of inclusion in the Fantasy Week Team. Sporting will face the Turks again, now at home, and Coates represents a desirable option for the coaches of #UCLfantasy after having shown all their usefulness in set-pieces. The Lions have conceded goals in all three group stage games, only Beşiktaş have yet to score.

Like Sporting, Manchester City also conceded goals in every group stage match, but the full-back João Cancelo (€6.2 million) remains an option to consider for #UCLfantasy. The 27-year-old opened up a 5-1 victory at Club Brugge in the final game, and his impressive individual performance with seven rebounds and a Best of Field award were enough to take 13 Fantasy points.

Summary: Chelsea 4-0 Malmö

Summary: Chelsea 4-0 Malmö

Chelsea recorded their second game without conceding in three rounds of Group H with a 4-0 home victory against Malmö. At a time when they are back against the Swedes, still without a goal scored in Group H, there are several Chelsea defenders quite appealing for their #UCLfantasy team, with particular emphasis on Ben Chilwell (€5.5 million), who scored in the last three Premier League matches. Other good options include central defenders. Antonio Rüdiger (€5.6 million) e Thiago Silva (€5.0 million), the latter author of an assistance on Journey 3.
