Neither Borussia Dortmund nor RB Leipzig have won their away games in the Champions League. While Leipzig fought in vain, BVB made an almost embarrassing appearance.

Desolate in defense, erratic in the build-up game – Borussia Dortmund has embarrassedly squandered the chance of a big step towards the Champions League round of 16. The 0: 4 (0: 2) against Ajax Amsterdam was like a lesson in phases for the overwhelmed Bundesliga runner-up and was the highest defeat in the Dortmund Champions League history.

After an own goal by captain Marco Reus (11th minute), BVB, who were inferior in all respects, got completely out of step on Tuesday evening and was conceded with more goals by Daley Blind (25th), Antony (57th) and ex-Frankfurt Sebastien Haller (72nd) in front of 54,000 spectators in the seething Johan Cruyff Arena still well served.

This means that the Dutch champions are in the group C table after a flawless record halfway through the preliminary round with three points ahead of the second from Dortmund (6 points). Only a win on November 3 at home against Ajax can prevent the announced entry into the round of 16 for the Revierclub from being a tremendous game. Before that, Sporting Lisbon (3) had won the group’s parallel game at Besiktas Istanbul (0) 4-1 (3-1).

Paris Saint-Germain – RB Leipzig 3:2

The superstars Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé disenchanted the terrific fighting RB Leipzig in the Champions League and inflicted the next defeat on the German runner-up. An at least questionable penalty from Messi (74th minute) made it 3: 2 (1: 1) for the star ensemble of Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening in Prinzenpark. The Argentine superstar (67th) had previously equalized. In front of 48,000 spectators, André Silva (28th) and Nordi Mukiele (57th) surprisingly turned the game in favor of Leipzig after PSG took an early lead through Mbappé (9th). Thus, the pointless Leipzig only theoretically has a chance of the round of 16.
