All points are important at the end of the season and a good performance was essential against the Red Bulls, who are a direct opponent in the race. With this setback, Wilfried Nancy’s men remain in ninth place with 43 points in 32 games, while New York climbs sixth, with 46 points.

This is another heartbreaking verdict for the Bleu-Blanc-Noir, who somehow resisted the opposing attacks at the end of the match. In the stoppage of play in the second half, Fabio finally beat the vigilance of Sebastian Breza with a header.

CF Montreal only scored one shot during this duel. Joaquin Torres came close to drawing the tie after the goal that blew the New Jersey crowd upside down, but his strike hit a defenseman.

Employed as a sentinel in front, Sunusi Ibrahim was the most threatening in the first half, finding himself twice alone against goalkeeper Carlos Coronel, without however being able to materialize.

Breza got the start after leading CF Montreal to the Canadian Championship final on Wednesday. He blocked four Red Bulls shots.

Montreal will have to win its last two duels, Wednesday against the Dynamo of Houston, then on November 7 against the Orlando City SC, to preserve chances to continue its season.
