Jorge Soler put Atlanta in the lead with a home run in the first inning. After three innings, the Braves were already 5-0. Then they suffered a bitter loss, starting pitcher Charlie Morton was eliminated with a broken fibula and will also be out of the rest of the World Series after being hit by a ball early in the game.

The World Series are played in “best of seven” mode. The second game is already on the program on Thursday night. The Atlanta Braves have won the World Series three times so far, most recently in 1995, and the Houston Astros once in 2017.
