Brandon Knight on the raise at… the Knicks? | NBA

As all the franchises finalize their rosters for the 2021/22 season, the Knicks surprised everyone by announcing the signing of… Brandon Knight!

Passed by Detroit, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Houston and Cleveland since 2011, the 29-year-old combo guard had disappeared from the radar since March 2020. At the time, he was trying to relaunch his career with the Pistons (11.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.2 average passes, in ten games), before the Covid-19 slows it down.

For now, the terms of Brandon Knight’s contract are not yet known. However, it seems complicated to imagine that this is guaranteed, when we know that the rotation of the New York franchise is already very extensive at post 1, with Kemba Walker, Derrick Rose, Immanuel Quickley or even Miles McBride.

Not to mention that of newcomer Brandon Goodwin, recently awarded a « Exhibit 10 ».

It could also be that Brandon Knight inherits a similar contract, to allow the leaders of New York to cut him in the wake, in order to have his rights and to recover him in their G-League team.

Exhibit-10 : gateway to a “two-way contract”, since this contract signed at the time of the “training camp” binds the player to the G-League team affiliated to an NBA franchise. The clause comes with a bonus of $ 5,000 to $ 50,000, valid only if, once cut, the player joins the affiliated G-League team and stays there for at least 60 days. The clause also allows the NBA franchise to convert the contract into a “two-way contract”, ahead of the regular season. If it does, the player receives the bonus mentioned.
