Biden gives some “baseball player” a Pope francesco: here’s what really happened. A video depopulated on social media in which it seems that the President of the United States gives the Pope some “famous african american baseball player“But this is fake news.

Biden calls Pope Francis a “baseball player”: false!

After the president of the United States Joe Biden met Pope francesco On October 29, social media users highlighted a short clip of their exchange and claimed that Biden referred to the Pope as a “famous African American baseball player.” The posts, however, lack context: Biden was telling Francis the story of Satchel Paige.

Although the first word in Biden’s sentence is not entirely audible, a further video from the scene shows that he was telling the story of Satchel Paige, an African American pitcher who joined the Major League at age 40. Biden then says (alongside an Italian interpreter): “Usually pitchers lose their arms at 35. He took a victory on his 47th birthday. The press walked into the locker room and said – her name was Satchel Paige: “Satch, no one has ever thrown a win at the age of 47. How do you feel about winning such a win on your birthday?” . He replied, “Guys, that’s not how I look at age. I see it this way: how old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?”.
