La Behobia-San Sebastián has presented a colorful t-shirt for its 56th edition. The popular race has chosen the image of a rainbow to breathe joy and enthusiasm into its runners after the “dark storm” of the coronavirus that forced the 2020 test to be suspended.

After more than a blank year, popular races are back on the asphalt and one of the most anticipated by runners is the Behobia-San Sebastián. On November 14, thousands of runners will meet in Behobia with the aim of completing in the shortest possible time the 20 kilometers that separate them from the finish line located on Donostiarra Boulevard.

It is precisely this joy and enthusiasm for putting on a number again that the new shirt transmits. A rainbow over the Kursaal bridge stamped on a white background results in an elastic band that will fill the streets of the Gipuzkoan capital with color. “Often, the brightest rainbows follow the darkest storms,” explained the organizers in the presentation of the garment on social networks.

More than 25,000 runners

La Behobia-San Sebastián will not reach the 30,000 registered in previous editions in this edition. Since 2013, the race had always exceeded that number, but the uncertainty generated by the coronavirus pandemic has put the brake on registrations.

At the closing of the registrations there were 25,802 runners signed up, of which 8,212 had already been there since 2020 –the period began, although the event could not be contested in the end– and 17,590 during the last months. Of these more than 25,000 registered, 26% are women and 74% men, percentages similar to those of 2019, the last physical disputed so far. There will also be 134 rollers on the starting line. The organizers are satisfied with the number of numbers since they did not expect to reach “such high figures”.

It should be remembered that a negative PCR or covid passport will be requested from all participants, which is being done in practically all massive sporting events.
