Victorious at 33 years of his first tournament last weekend in Mallorca (Mallorca Golf Open), Jeff Winther had a somewhat epic penultimate round. The Dane was indeed stuck for 45 minutes in the toilets of his hotel.

Jeff Winther got hot! Leader of Mallorca Golf Open after 54 holes with two strokes ahead of the Spaniard Jorge Campillo, the Dane had a somewhat agitated penultimate lap. He found himself locked in the toilets of his hotel. And that bad joke lasted… 45 minutes.

« After breakfast, I went to take a shower and my wife also went to the bathroom… And there, the door closed. There was no lock and the handle was not working, he explained later at the microphone of theEuropean Tour. In short, we were locked up! »

Rescued by his six year old daughter

Her salvation finally came from her six-year-old daughter, who alerted hotel staff. ” She went to get some guys from the front desk and they came and kicked the door down. We stayed in there for about 40-45 minutes … During that time, I was like: “Damn, that’s not possible. Not today. I am leading the tournament and I may not be on time for my start! ” What a morning it has been … »

Finally released, Jeff Winther managed to join the Golf Santa Ponsa, before signing a card of 70 (by), enough to clinch his first victory on the European Tour in front of the Spaniards Pep Angles and Jorge Campillo as well as the Swede Sebastian Söderberg. Phew!
