medi Bayreuth has followed the Bavarian rivals FC Bayern Munich and s.Oliver Würzburg and completes the quarter-finals of the German Basketball Cup. The team of trainer Raoul Korner prevailed on Tuesday evening in the last round of 16 against Hamburg Towers with 93:84 (47:47) and thus reached the next round. After two even quarters, Bayreuth distanced the Towers with a strong third round (30:12) and could not be taken away from the lead.

Defending champion FC Bayern Munich will visit the Niners Chemnitz in the quarter-finals in mid-November. Master Alba Berlin has to compete for a place in the top four at medi Bayreuth. The other quarter-finals are: Löwen Braunschweig against the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt and Hakro Merlins Crailsheim against s.Oliver Würzburg. The games will take place on November 13th and 14th.
