Meixian national athlete Zhao Yahan wins the first gold in the 8th Special Olympic Games in China

At 8:30 am on October 24th, Shaanxi Er Tuan Mei County athlete Zhao Yahan won the women’s 50-meter track and field gold medal in the low-energy 8-11-year-old group with a time of 9.95 seconds. This gold medal is also the first gold medal in the Eighth Special Olympic Games of the country.

From October 22 to October 29, the 11th Paralympic Games of the People’s Republic of China and the 8th Special Olympic Games were held in Baoji. A total of 35 delegations from 31 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region participated in the competition. After receiving the notice, Shaanxi Province quickly established the Shaanxi Second Regiment and selected five track and field athletes from the Meixian Special Education School to participate in the competition. Among them, Zhao Yahan was the youngest athlete.

Special Olympics emphasizes “participation” and “trying” to stimulate the potential and courage of the team members. Special children want to win the game and have to work harder than ordinary people. In order to prepare for the Paralympic Games, Zhao Yahan has been training during the summer vacation. He is never afraid of hardship or tiredness. Even if he falls and is injured, the coach will feel distressed, but the child himself is also very distressed. Never thought of giving up. After four months of hard training, he achieved excellent results.

This is the first time for the athletes from Mei County to participate in the National Special Olympics. Then they will also participate in softball, standing long jump, 400 meters, 1500 meters, basketball individual competitions, team competitions and other events.
