Axelsen withdraws after one point: ‘I am very disappointed’ | BT Badminton

Was point.

There was no more for Viktor Axelsen, who withdrew from the French Open on Wednesday. This is the Dane’s first showdown, after he went all the way on Sunday and won the Denmark Open at home in Odense.

But even though the form must be said to be good, it was only a single ball in the showdown against Hee Heo Kwang from South Korea, before Axelsen said thank you for the match.

A decision he has elaborated on his Twitter profile, where he explains that he has struggled with a few minor injuries after Sunday’s final victory over Kento Momota.

‘After talking to my team, I decided to give it a try during my last warm-up tonight. Unfortunately, I could quickly feel that I was not ready to compete this week. I am very disappointed as I had been looking forward to playing in front of the amazing French audience. But with such a hectic tournament program, I had no choice but to listen to my body, ‘he writes, among other things.

He will now focus on getting fully ready for the upcoming tasks in Bali and Indonesia.

Following the victory in the Denmark Open on Sunday, he cast doubt on his participation in France when he visited TV 2 Sports’ studio.

»I want to say, right now … French Open on Wednesday … I should at least go home and put my legs up and maybe have two plates of food tonight (Sunday ed.), And then we’ll just see how I have it over the next few days, “said Axelsen.
