At the 2001 Judia Kumiai Club in Avigliana the activities • The News Agenda

AVIGLIANA – With the month of October theAmateur Sports Association Club 2001 Judo Kumiai from Avigliana has resumed its business of judo filling the Tatami with small and large judoka athletes. The two technicians who take care of the teaching of judo, Barbara Olivieri e Davide Bellagarda, they say they are satisfied and happy with this new reopening which in the complex of the three shifts to date counts more than 50 students. “He judo – they tell us – it is a passion that we have been carrying on for more than twenty years in the Avigliana area. It all started with our Maestro Giuseppe Rotella (late 70s early 80s) with the historic Aviglianese judo and continued today with the ASD Club 2001 judo Avigliana”.

JUDO IS NOT JUST A WAY OF PLAYING SPORT

There are many children and teenagers between 4 and 12 who have approached this sport this year in our club. We are very happy about this because for us judo is not just a way to “play sports” (which is however very important after a very long period of rest experienced by all of us). But also for a character and emotional growth of self-esteem and strength. – Barbara points out – Many parents calling me for the classic information on timetables, on the place and on what they have to bring to try, also ask if in my opinion this sport could be suitable for their child. Many times they speak to me of closed and timid characters; they are parents who through the practice of a sport would like to help their child become more confident and strong. Other times they talk to me about kids with a lot of energy, very active and exuberant. In this case they think that a martial art can help them to contain and channel this energy correctly, even in the rest of their days. What I answer to them every time is that judo is a great tool to give our judokas the opportunity to interact with other mates on the mat (Tatami): a few essential rules!

RESPECT FOR THE OPPONENT

Through preparatory games of our sport – continues Barbara – you learn to fight with fellow opponents without ever forgetting the most important thing: respect for our opponent. Even if judo is an individual sport and not a team sport, through games and exercises preparatory to the fight it manages to develop motor skills of coordination and strength. But also character-emotional skills of security and control indispensable in a balanced growth. The greatest emotion will surely be seeing our high school students competing in the Giaveno building for some important qualification. And with an audience made up of our youngest athletes, who may come to see “their big judo companions” climb and fight on the mat. Today this is not yet possible. According to Covid regulations, only athletes, technicians and referees could enter the race of our athlete Riccardo Mele for the cadet category qualifications on October 3, 2021 in Giaveno. Not even the parents of the athletes. Waiting for this situation to return to normal, we continue to grow our small and large judokas on the carpet of the Club 2001 in Avigliana”.

THE HEADQUARTERS IN AVIGLIANA

The Avigliana office is in Via Montenero, 4. Recall that the Club 2001 Judo of Avigliana is connected with the Judo Kumiai of Druento which participates in the Italian championships. The Aviglianese reality is therefore connected to a larger one: the goal is to bring children closer to this sport, to get passionate about it and help them grow up in a healthy way, with the possibility when grown up to continue practicing it professionally. For more information you can contact Barbara Olivieri, the president, by sending a sms or a Whatsapp to the number 329 9881532 or visit the page Facebook.
