Indonesia was again left behind from Malaysia in the 2021 Sudirman Cup quarter-finals. Anthony Ginting who appeared in the third party was defeated by Lee Zii Jia.

Against Lee Zii Jia, Anthony had a less than promising start to the match after trailing 5-12. Lee Zii Jia’s hard smash again made the margin to seven points at 14-7.
Lee Zii Jia went further after Anthony Ginting made a series of mistakes. Anthony then narrowed the score to 10-19 after his cross fell on the edge of the touchline.
Anthony’s return was easily snatched by Lee Zii Jia to create game points at 20-11. Lee Zii Jia then got a lucky ball after his smash hit the net before falling into Anthony’s field to secure the first game 21-11.
Anthony stepped on the gas early in the second game to take the lead from Lee Zii Jia. However, Lee Zii Jia was slowly able to catch up and even turned 9-7 ahead. The match continued to be tight, but Anthony took the lead into the first interval at 11-10.
Lee Zii Jia scooped five straight points leaving Anthony 15-11. Lee Zii Jia’s defense was difficult to penetrate even though Anthony was pounded by hard hits. Lee’s return shot into the far back corner came in and gave him a 17-15 lead.
Lee Zii Jia kept up the wind, three consecutive numbers were obtained to give birth to a 20-15 match point. A hard smash then extended Anthony’s breath. Lee Zii Jia responded to Anthony Ginting with a hard cross to end Anthony’s match 21-16.
