He’s been playing an incredible year of tennis!
First love tournament victory for Alexander Zverev (24)! The Olympic champion got his fifth success this year by beating the American qualifier Frances Tiafoe (23) 7: 5, 6: 4 in Vienna, but the first one in which girlfriend Sophia Thomalla (32) was there.
She sat in the box, dressed simply in black, and cheered behind Physio Hugo Gravil. But she didn’t have to worry too much, because against the number 49 in the world, her lover had the matter firmly under control.
Immediately after the handover of the trophy, Zverev turned to his Sophia directly via the hall microphone. With a sweet love speech!
Zverev: “Brand new to the team, but I have to endure it 24 hours a day. Also the most important person: Sophia! Thank you for being by my side since lately. I hope this won’t be the last time we’ll touch a trophy together. You have to put up with me on the tour for another ten years or so. ”
Sophia follows the speech with a smile – and throws her tennis hero a kiss on the hand!

With the success, the Hamburger made history again. After tournament victories, he drew level with Michael Stich (53), the 1991 Wimbledon winner. Both now have 18 pieces on their account. In his last 1996, Stich was three years older than Zverev today.
Tiafoe, who beat top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas (23) in the round of 16 and super talent Jannik Sinner (20) in the semifinals on the way to the final, also held up bravely against the number 4 in the world. But against the great serves of the favorite he was mostly powerless.

However, the American also shone with good service; so the game was high-class in phases, so that the audience in the town hall had their joy. They were given a close match in which neither gave each other anything.
Some of the rallies were breathtaking; a Grand Slam final couldn’t be better. Zverev appropriately managed the decisive break to win the match. After 1:35 an hour, he converted the first match point.
