After Ronald Koeman’s exit as Barcelona coach, Yusuf Demir could get another chance at the Catalans. There are also other alternatives.
The Dutchman was actually still a big sponsor of the 18-year-old ÖFB star, whom Barca loaned from Rapid Vienna, who has a purchase option of ten million euros. After a strong preparation, the Dutchman even pulled the technically gifted offensive player up into the professional squad.
No more chance under Koeman?
In recent weeks, Koeman left the ex-Rapidler on the sidelines, even preferred right-back Sergino Dest to the 18-year-old as the right winger. The “Sport” interpreted this as a clear sign that Koeman had lost confidence in Demir and no longer wanted to rely on the offensive player.
But Koeman has not been Barcelona coach since Thursday, club icon Xavi is approaching. Sergi Barjuan, who actually coaches Barcelona’s B-Team, temporarily took over as coach of the professionals. But the interim coach also relied on Dest on the right wing against Deportivo Alaves on Saturday evening.
Is Dortmund striking?
Demir’s future depends on the new coach – probably Xavi. If the future coach builds on the Austrian, Barcelona will probably take the purchase option. If the “Blaugrana” let this option pass, Demir could continue to do so in Germany. At least that’s what the Spanish “Diario Gol” reported. Accordingly, Borussia Dortmund is still interested in the 18-year-old.
