Sensei Héctor González Ceballos visited Salta to pay homage to sensei Asadur Lemseyan and both shared with El Tribuno their vision of this martial art that was born in Okinawa.

The senseis Héctor González Ceballos and Asadur Lemseyan lead a life linked to karate. They are more than 50 years linked to the learning, teaching and practice that had them, at first, as apprentices and today as great teachers in charge of continuing to spread the values of this martial art that is based in Okinawa, Japan. .
Karate crossed his paths in Salta half a century ago. They forged a friendship, shared trips, classes and the training of several generations of karate fighters throughout the country and also internationally. Sensei Lemseyan was a pioneer of karate in Salta, he gave classes at the Ateneo El Tribuno, with the support of González Ceballos, of Cordovan origin.
Ceballos is the president of the Shgorin-Ryu Karate-Do and Kobudo Argentina Association “Shin Shu Kan”, 9th dan hanshi of karate do and 7th dan kobudo. He went through Salta to pay homage to the teacher Lemseyan (7th dan) in his 50 years linked to karate, and both chatted with El Tribuno about their experiences and why they consider the practice of karate important.
“I initially practiced judo when I was 12 years old, I did it for four years and I made it to the brown belt graduation. But I became interested in karate since my brother was one of the first Argentines in a karate class, that motivated me and on February 2, 1967 I began my journey. I am going to be 55 years old, ”said González Ceballos.
The teacher divided his time between karate and studies. He graduated from a doctor, became chief of surgery, had 30 doctors under his charge, retired, but still maintains his two passions.
“Life took us step by step, so we arrived in Okinawa, the world headquarters of karate. I always make a parallel with medicine, to practice you have to be updated and with karate we achieve that every year that we travel to Okinawa. We are updating guidelines ”, said the Cordovan sensei.
His career is well recognized in the world cradle of karate. In Okinawa the figure of González Ceballos is respected and that makes him a benchmark of Argentine and American karate. His constant desire for learning and growth led him to visit Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Egypt, Israel, among other countries.
González Ceballos and Lemseyan emphasize that karate is a path of principles, values and discipline. “In the age in which we are living, the values are absolutely upset. The training work is complicated because the very easy is the order of the day and people shy away from discipline. The true discipline is the one that comes from within, not the one imposed on you, ”said Master Lemseyan.
For his part, sensei González Ceballos stressed that “we transmit values through identification with the superior. If the leader misbehaves the boy will not learn anything, on the contrary if the apprentice takes his teacher as an example of life. The human being has common guidelines that relate us, the same thing happens in karate ”.
For González Ceballos and Lemseyan, age does not stop them and they live the new challenges with the same enthusiasm as the first day.
