007, both on earth and above the sky

James Bond has been distributing horns for more than two weeks and further enriching its creators thanks to the long-awaited film No time to die, of which we will not make any spoilers – we will leave this honor to other comrades, even if it is in homage to the late Antonio Gasset. But we will talk about the cars and motorcycles that appear in the latest adventure of Agent 007, because they always tend to play a prominent role in the stories in the service of His British Majesty.

They say that this film, the twenty-fifth of Bond, marks a change of cycle in the character created by Ian Fleming, and that is why it is full of references to previous titles. And, in this sense, could not miss the Aston Martin, the favorite car in the series from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. From the legendary DB5 of the first installments, to a V8 Vantage from the 80s, to the DBS Superleggera – the latest addition to the open-wing brand, which the pandemic has prevented us from seeing before, as we all wanted – or the Valhalla and its 950 horsepower, which only the privileged 500 of its exclusive series will be able to enjoy. To celebrate the film’s long-awaited premiere, F1’s Aston Martin team painted the 007 logos on the sides of Vettel and Stroll’s cars in the Monza race.

But one thing is prestige and another is the pocket, and to these cars are added others that help to fatten the needs of production thanks to what their manufacturers pay to have this kind of product placement.

Thus, this advertising operation also gives a certain prominence to models such as the Land Rover Defender, which on the occasion of the film has released a prized Bond Edition, limited to only 300 cars, with a very special decoration painted in Eiger Gray, filled with pieces of carbon and with a few 22-inch rims. They are 525 hp, from € 154,100 for the version with 90 body, the short, and € 4,000 more for the 110, the long.

The first Range Rover we saw in a Bond movie was in 1983, a Octopussy. Now we find a Sport SVR – the most powerful and fastest they have made so far: with a V8 engine, 575 hp, acceleration from 0 to 100 in just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 283 km per hour – fighting a Toyota Land Cruiser in a chase coordinated by Oscar winner Chris Corbould for his special effects.

A No time to die the most elitist brands are represented by a Jaguar XF and a Maseratti Quattroporte, which already have a certain battle, by the way, so you sense that they will end up in a pile after a drive that would not be approved by Minister Marlaska.

It's been 40 years since Citroën launched the special 007 series of its 2 hp.

All these cars contrast sharply with the special series of the Citroën 2 CV that the French brand created just 40 years ago on the occasion of the premiere of Just for your eyes, starring Roger Moore. They only made 500, and it is one of the versions of the 2 CV most sought after by collectors after the slides that Bond made with that car in the film on the roads of southern Spain, this time accompanied by Carole Bouquet .

A Triumph Tiger 900 built on the basis of the Rally Pro serves to allow Craig to demonstrate his skill on a motorcycle, even at a ridiculously increased speed. The Bond Edition sells for 19,200 euros (there will only be 250 worldwide), and will be one of the products the English brand will use to celebrate its 102nd anniversary next year.

As you can see, a small car show on the screen, more stirred than agitated, in this case.
