“We have a very positive trend this year, we have now reached the figures for 2018 and 2019, and the dent that we had in 2020 due to the pandemic has actually disappeared again,” said Koch.

4,000 new registrations also realistic this year

In a normal year there are between 3,500 and 4,000 new registrations, almost all of them children, who have declared football to be their sport. With the start of the youth game, we notice that things are really moving and that a lot of players are being registered again, ”continued Koch.

A good 30,000 players are registered in Upper Austria. According to the Upper Austrian Football Association, there are 378 member clubs. After Corona, four clubs stopped playing and two were new. According to Koch, this is within the range of a normal year.
