WTA Finals to be played in Mexico instead of China

Las WTA Finals, the end-of-season tournament of the women’s circuit, They were transferred from China to the Mexican city Guadalajara, the WTA announced on Monday.

The tournament was to be held in the Chinese city of Shenzhen in November.

The WTA did not explain the reason for the change, but noted that the pageant will return to Shenzhen next year. Shenzhen hosted the WTA Finals for the first time in 2019 – the tournament could not be held last year and is scheduled to host until 2030.

Multiple sports competitions have had to be removed from China due to border restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Guadalajara hosted a tournament on the WTA hard court tour in March.

Be the first time that the WTA Finals will be staged in Mexico and the first in North America since Los Angeles was hosted in 2005.
