Without a coat of arms? There is a stir about the new Dortmund jersey for the Champions League

Borussia Dortmund will start the Champions League on Wednesday. BVB is a guest at Besiktas in Istanbul. But in which jerseys will the black and yellow appear?

A recently emerged picture of a possible Borussia Dortmund jersey caused a lot of discussion among fans. The “Ruhrnachrichten” published a photo of a jersey that BVB will supposedly wear in the Champions League. It was even available for a short time in the club’s shop.

The neon yellow jersey from supplier Puma does not have a visible coat of arms, but rather a lettering above the main sponsor, which runs horizontally across the chest. There it says “BVB 09”. This season, some teams that are outfitted by Puma have such a jersey.

Borussia Mönchengladbach, for example, has a third jersey without a coat of arms:

BVB itself has not yet confirmed whether the jersey is real.

An indication of this, however, would be that the shirt sponsor is Evonik. While the BVB jersey adorns league 1 & 1, it is Evonik in the premier class.

“Puma tries the least”

On Twitter, the feedback is rather critical. In the comments under the post of the “Ruhr Nachrichten” it says, for example: “Another reason not to buy a jersey. Puma has managed this since its amateurs have been up to mischief at BVB. A club must be able to afford it.” Another fan wrote: “You have to be very clear that Puma is by far the company that tries the least.”

The Borussia game will kick off on Wednesday at 6.45 p.m. By then at the latest, the BVB fans will see whether it is the club’s actual Champions League jersey.
