Russell Wilson Named Most Valuable Player In NFL: What Happened To Lamar Jackson?

The Seattle Seahawks they host the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 19. At the same time, his fans will once again be present at Lumen Field. Russell Wilson he will have a goal of leading the team to 2-0 on the season, but he will also have a chance to top a Hall of Famer on the touchdown pass list in a career.

Wilson is 19th on a roster full of NFL legends with 271 touchdown passes during his career. Joe Montana is directly above him with 273 in a career that lasted from 1979 to 1994. Wilson can move up to 18th with just three touchdown passes against Tennessee.

Montana is not the only quarterback in the sights. Wilson could also overtake Vinny Testaverde to take 17th place if he throws five touchdown passes against the Titans. Testaverde, the first pick in the 1987 draft, threw 275 touchdown passes during his career between 1987 and 2007. He played for Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Baltimore, New York (Jets), Dallas, New England and Carolina.

The seven-time Pro-Bowl selection can surpass the Hall of Famer on Sunday, September 19, when the Titans head to the Northwest. The game will kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET in front of a noisy crowd that will be in attendance at the stadium for the first time since 2019.

Wilson made big plays on debut

Throwing three touchdown passes is nothing unusual for Wilson. He has done it multiple times in his career, including seven times last season. And he also added another five games with two touchdown passes.

Wilson continued this pattern for the first game of the season. He led the Seahawks to a 28-16 road win after throwing four touchdown passes. He connected twice with Tyler Lockett, once with Gerald Everett and once with DK Metcalf.

The offense was efficient despite clearing five times. With Shane Waldron’s offensive system, Wilson had 23 pass attempts and completed 18 passes for 254 yards. Chris Carson and the group of running backs amassed 140 yards. The group will have even more opportunities to consolidate during the game against the Titans.

Wilson may also move up to another prestigious list

Moving to Montana and – possibly Testaverde – is just one of the ways Wilson can continue to impact NFL records. He could also top Terry Bradshaw on another list.

If Wilson guides the Seahawks to a victory over the Titans at home, he will record his 100th win in 146 games as a starter as a quarterback for the Northwest team. He would become the third-fastest quarterback to that mark behind Montana (131 games) and Tom Brady (131 games). Bradshaw did it in 147 games.

If what happened on debut is any indication, Wilson should top Bradshaw on this list at home debut. The Seahawks are coming off the Colts, while the Titans started the season losing to the Cardinals 38-13.

Wilson has only played twice against the Cardinals in his career. He played the first game against them in 2013, his second season with the Seahawks, and led the team to a 20-13 victory.

Wilson faced the Titans for the second time in 2017. He and the Seahawks went to Nashville for the game against the AFC team and lost 33-27. Despite that, Wilson threw four touchdown passes and no interceptions.
