Urban Meyer rejects interest in USC: No chance

In recent decades Urban Meyer earned the reputation of being one of the best coaches in college football (championships in 2006, 2008 and 2014 endorse him). Upon the opening of a vacancy at USC, was linked to the now coach of the Jaguars with the work, although Meyer himself denied interest.

At a press conference, the coach of Jacksonville threw the rumors of his possible incorporation to the Trojans and argued that he is focused on creating a winning organization at the TIAA Bank Field.

“There is no possibility,” he dismissed the 57-year-old coach. “I am here and I am committed to trying and building an organization.”

The reports linking Meyer to the University of Southern California are only the last page of a book of negative situations that have plagued the coach since his arrival in Jacksonville ─the hiring and firing of Chris Doyle for racist comments, the disagreement of some players with the Meyer system, the signing of Tim Tebow and vaccination status as a factor in making up the 53-player roster, to name a few.

More candidates for the position

As Meyer removed himself from the job, another NFL coach rang for the job. Adam Schefter of ESPN, reported that Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy could take Clay Helton’s place, who went 46-24 in seven years at USC.

Schefter added that people close to the Kansas City coordinator revealed that Bienemy himself has shown interest in the position for a while.
