The National Basketball League has a new champion. Universidad de Concepción defeated Club Deportivo Valdivia in the fourth game of the final series, proclaiming the Penquista team as the new monarch throughout the country.
The match was fairly even, where they even had to define the winner in overtime, after equalizing 63-63 in the regulation.
The Valdivian team had the opportunity to extend the series to a fifth game, which would take place this next Wednesday. However, the team at the River region let out victory in the end.
University of Concepcion took revenge for the final of the 2015-2016 season, in which Valdivia won the 6-game series final, at beat CDV 71-68.

Universidad de Concepción champion of the National Basketball League
At Antonio Azurmendi Municipal Coliseum, on Valdivia, the campanil he managed for the first time in his history to put on the crown of the highest monarch of national basketball.
One of the main architects of the Penquista team title was Cipriano Núñez. The basketball player was champion with the University of Concepcion as a player, in the Dimayor, and now as team coach.
This is the fifth title of the varsity, but the first in this league. The previous trophies were when they played in the Dimayor, with 2012 being the last time they lifted a title.
Cipriano Nunez declared after the victory of U. of Concepción that “This has been plagued with emotions. It’s a grueling nine months. Personally, nothing more …“.
