The franchise has already given rise to an anime series (prequel to the film) which premiered in Japan on the channel NHK-General in October 2018.

As mentioned by ANN, Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime which was streamed on Crunchyroll and HIDIVE (with an English dub) while airing in Japan. The same Sentai Filmworks released the anime on home video in January 2020, an edition that also included an OAV and an episode (the 14th) never aired on TV.

Tsurune’s story follows the events of Minato Narumiya, a kid who is fascinated by the kyūdō, traditional Japanese archery and the sound of arrows when they are shot, or the “tsurune”.

After practicing this discipline during middle school, Minato ends up walking away from it.

However, once he enrolled in high school, the passion flourishes again thanks to some old companions and a new teacher who will prepare him for the prestigious tournament of the prefecture.
