The Métairie school with the Generation 2024 label

It is a brand new pavilion that the Métairie school is displaying on its mast, symbol of its year project, “Generation 2024”.

This Friday, September 24, two high-level Vendée athletes, Clarysse Picard (athletics) and Virginie Louppe (surf) symbolically hoisted these new colors, in the presence of the partners of this long-term project, La Ville des Herbiers, education and the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS).

A Generation 2024 label which involves many actions throughout the year, in particular to encourage sports with the Daily Mile (running every day on the school premises), promoting the practice of Olympic sports , participation in City actions … (see the video)

Meetings and exchanges are on the program with of course Clarysse Picard and Vrignie Louppe but also with local clubs. Thus, each class from CP to CM2 will be linked to a club in Les Herbiers: rollerblading, athletics, fencing, judo, tennis, table tennis or disabled sports.

“It is a direct extension of the Terres de jeux label that the City won in 2019”, launches Patrice Bouancheau, assistant for school affairs. “Bravo for this initiative, but it is you who are going to make this label “, he reminded the 170 elementary school students present.

Sport represents values, a word of which each letter perfectly represents its objectives according to the deputy, “Will, Friendship, Freedom, Excellence, Universal, Respect and Health “.

And Juliette Marlin, responsible for the deployment of sport-health within the national education for the Vendée, abounds: “cis an opportunity to feel good in your head and well in your body. You are going to live an extraordinary year“.

For Jean-Philippe Guignard, president of the CDOS, “sport is a way to integrate and change our society”.

An integration which is wonderfully illustrated by the life course of Virginie Louppe (45), Paralympic surfer. Suffering from bone cancer at the age of 12, the child from La Tranche-sur-Mer got back on a board at his 40th birthday and aims to qualify for Paris 2024, whose surfing events will take place … in Tahiti .
