The head is off for The Hague DKC

Ken je GSBC LOVE al?

Head woman Manon Sibbald was short and strong about this after the game: “It was a rough start.” Unfortunately, she was unable to break any pots in the women’s doubles with Marlies Baan and in her single.

It was noticeable that the team of the new coach Dennis Lens has to get used to it again, because they were sidelined with 1-7 by the team from Haarlem. In addition, the team also struggled with injuries and illnesses; leader Mark Caljouw had surgery this week and Tom Blinde was also unable to play due to an injury.

As a result, there was enough room for debutant Andy Buijk to show that he is ready for the Eredivisie. He fought for what he was worth in both the single and the mix with Kiona van der Werf, but unfortunately the Haarlem opponents were still a size too big. The same Van der Werf also had great difficulty with her opponent in her single, but there were certainly opportunities here.

The men’s doubles was the only match that was really exciting and where a point could possibly be won, but unfortunately Michiel Kruijt and Gijs Duijs had to bow their heads in two sets in the nick of time.

The only winning point of the evening is in the name of Duijs and Charissa Kuiper. Fortunately, the evening ended with some hope.

Next Sunday, the Lens team in Groningen will try to take as many points as possible back to The Hague. The match starts at 2.30 pm in Sports Center RUG & HG.
