The Cavern of Las Brujas reopened in Malargüe after being closed for 17 months

The Caverna de las Brujas, one of the main tourist attractions in the Mendoza department of Malargüe, was reopened this week after being closed for 17 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, and is now prepared so that tourists can safely enter its rooms and corridors under the mountain.

The local director of Tourism Promotion and Policies, Marcelo Rivarola, who made the announcement said that “the site belongs to us and putting it in tourist value again has been a source of pride.”

Having this great attraction in operation, with its underground rooms in which stalactites and stalagmites acquire the most diverse shapes, dimensions and colors, makes the Cavern a different adventure tourism alternative.

The official valued that it also “means the possibility of diversifying the offer so that the tourist can choose the destination or stay one more day in our city”, and pointed out that in the first days of reopening they received “many people”, for those who have all available services, such as restrooms, interpretation room, helmets, lighting, and guides.

Rivarola said that the low season “continues with a large number of visitors, which is very positive for the sector so they want to continue adding events such as the Judo Field and other activities that attract tourists.”

“Being able to sustain the season and seek stability during the low months is extremely important for us,” he said, and assured that many private providers benefit from the economic spillover that tourism causes in our department. “

Finally, he commented that the “Sale Mendoza” program involved more than seven local providers and more than 30 agencies in Mendoza that sell the Malargüe destination nationwide, “so our department has been one of the most chosen.” (Télam)
