The best Ticino sportsmen: here are the 20 finalists

The competition for “Ticino’s best sportsmen” is about to reach its final stages. Twenty – ten elites and ten hopefuls – are the athletes left on the list after the second voting period. In this first phase of the competition, over 12,500 preferences were expressed electronically which, together with the opinion of a neutral jury, designated the finalists of the two categories.

Elite category:

Ajla Del Ponte (athletics), Mattia Bottani (football), Mario Gavranovic (football), Elena Roos (orienteering), Luca Fazzini (hockey), Michael Fora (hockey), Filippo Colombo (mountain bike), Noè Ponti ( swimming), Susan Bandecchi (tennis), Sasha Caterina (triathlon).

The provisional ranking sees Ajla Del Ponte at the head, preceding Noè Ponti, Filippo Colombo, Elena Roos and Susan Bandecchi.

Emma Piffaretti (athletics), Nicolas Muci (football), Alessia Pagnamenta (artistic gymnastics), Steven Pelliciolli (judo), Giulia Alberti (mountain bike), Lucia Zanetti (mountain bike), Ian D’Iorio (swimming), Kim Bächtold ( synchronized swimming), Sara Franzi (figure skating), Massimiliano Gusmini (alpine skiing).

The provisional ranking is headed by Sara Franzi, ahead of Massimiliano Gusmini, Emma Piffaretti, Giulia Alberti and Alessia Pagnamenta.

How to vote

The public can express their preference on www.aiutosport.ch. For the vote to be valid, it is always necessary to indicate four sportsmen; each person can vote only once. The awards ceremony will take place on Monday 8 November.
