The attack of the Blue Jays in neutral

Limited to just three hits from a safe place, the Toronto Blue Jays were shut out 2-0 by the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night at Rogers Center.

The failure at bat ended a three-game winning streak for Canada’s only major league team.

We must also give credit to Rays starter Drew Rasmussen (3-1). The 26-year-old gunner gave two hits and one free pass to the Jays in five innings of work. He also spent three opponents in the mitten.

Relievers Pete Fairbanks, JT Chargois, David Robertson and Andrew Kittredge continued their starter’s momentum. The last of this list was in post during the last engagement and thus obtained his seventh rescue of the year.

For the Blue Jays, Jose Berrios had a good outing, despite the fact that he inherited the loss. In seven innings on the mound, he allowed one run on four hits. He also had four strikeouts.

In the Rays’ second round at bat, Ji-Man Choi sent a pitch from Berrios (11-8) out of bounds. It was his 10th home run in 2021. Brandon Lowe also stretched his arms, but in the eighth inning.

The series between the Jays and the Florida club is now tied. Both teams will look for a win on Wednesday night, as they play the final game of a three-part series.

Yankees join Jays

By virtue of a 7-2 win over the Orioles in Baltimore, the New York Yankees now have the same record as the Blue Jays.

Indeed, the two formations of the Eastern section of the American League have an identical record of 81 wins and 64 losses. They occupy the two best second places in the American.

On their heels, we find the Boston Red Sox (81-65). The Massachusetts club were in action later on Tuesday evening.

Getting back to the game against the Orioles, the Bronx Bombardiers amassed all their points with long balls. The authors of these were Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Luke Voit, Joey Gallo and DJ LeMahieu.

The victory went to the record of Gerrit Cole (15-7). The Yankees starter allowed a run on four hits and struck out seven rivals. For its part, the defeat was added to the record of Alexander Wells (1-3).
