The 2021 World Cup Huelva starts the countdown at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee | Huelva24

The countdown to the Huelva 2021 Badminton World Championships had its debut in Madrid this Tuesday with the event held at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee, in which the mayor of Huelva, Gabriel Cruz, has highlighted “The enormous illusion and the historical opportunity that an event for Huelva represents for which there are barely 75 days left and for which we practically have the entire organizational infrastructure ready. Badminton is breathed and the atmosphere is already brewing in the city, where we are going to live some very beautiful dates starting on November 28 ”.

The councilor has given an account of the preparations for the great World Cup event in a presentation in which he has been accompanied by the president of the COE, Alejandro Blanco; the president of the Spanish Federation of Badminton (FESBA), Andoni Azurmendi; the general secretary of sports of the Junta de Andalucía, José María Arrabal; in addition to the Councilor for Citizen Participation and Sports of the Huelva City Council, María Teresa Flores and the director of the Huelva 2021 World Cups, Alberto Prada. Likewise, the sports director of the FESBA, Arturo Ruiz, and the olympians Pablo Abián and Clara Azurmendi.

From November 28 to December 4 in its Senior mode and from December 12 to 19 in the Absolute, a historical event will take place that will bring the capital of Huelva to more than 2,000 athletes from 65 countries between the two modalities, estimating a direct economic impact of 16 million euros in the city; as well as an indirect impact of 270.3 million, counting on the projection forecasts in media terms and external promotion of the image of Huelva.

“A huge effort”
As revealed Gabriel Cruz, The preparations for the great World Cup event have meant “An enormous effort, because it has been necessary to undertake important interventions regarding the remodeling of the urban perimeter of the Sports Palace ‘Carolina Marín’, as well as some very important reform works [Img #283900]of the own pavilion so that it fulfills all the exigencies of the World Federation at the time of developing the competitions. It has been intervened in roofs, lighting, all the pavement, the stands, a modernization center, changing rooms, press room, accessibility … absolutely everything, and there is very little left for us to be in perfect magazine condition to celebrate the World Cup , with all the illusion ”.

In the words of the mayor, “we are looking forward to the moment, and I hope that the dynamics regarding the evolution of Covid-19 will continue to improve and that translates into the possibility of increasing the number of viewers so that, within strict compliance with the prevention rules, this can be a World Cup with a lot of support, that it is lived and vibrated and that we enjoy it very much. That Hueva can be flooded with visitors, because we are eager to show ourselves, to offer what we are and what we have ”.

After the visit to the COE, the Huelva delegation headed by the councilor went to the headquarters of the Higher Sports Council to greet the Secretary of State for Sports, José Manuel Franco Pardo, and to the players of the High Performance Center, where a meeting with the Huelva-born athlete was held Carolina Marín.
